About the Movie

"Finding a Family" is based on the true story of Alex Chivescu, a ward of the state of Michigan, who knowing he cannot be emancipated from the foster care system, searches for a new mom and dad within the school district that he believes can fulfill his lifelong dream of attending an Ivy League university.

Alex (Jared Abrahamson) has a passion for learning, instilled by his loving single mother, Ileana (Kim Delaney) who has a doctorate degree and speaks six languages. When Alex was 10-years-old, Ileana had a life-altering car crash that left her struggling with bouts of anger and depression, so much so that a family court judge deemed her unfit to parent Alex further.

The one constant in his life is school. When Alex’s transportation funding ends, he discovers he’s about to be assigned to a foster family outside the school district that can provide stability and a curriculum that can get him into an Ivy League university. Alex is left with only one option: in order to avoid being assigned outside the high school he loves, he must find a new mom and dad....

SALAZARIA, AN ORIGINAL BUTTERFLY FROM RIOSUCIO

JULIAN ADOLFO SALAZAR ESCOBAR

Notable lepidopterology precursor in Colombia, naturalist and Veterinarian, was born in Riosucio, Caldas. He attended elementary and high school, in school José M. Restrepo Maya and Institute Manizales, respectively. He graduated from the University of Caldas in 1987, currently ahead graduate studies in Biology Sciences. His field of expertise was the taxonomy, entomology, lepidopterology, ecology, conservation of wilderness and of course Veterinary Medicine. He is an outstanding figure of national entomology, committed to scientific cause, a person who has given to the country many discoveries of new some typical species, some of the  Riosucio’s municipality and unique in the world such as butterflies: Mesene ingrumaensis and Salazaria,  valuable contributions in addition to its more than 100 publications throughout his life.

He develops wildlife research, species monitoring, community development and environmental impact. Since 1993 he has been linked to the University of Caldas (Manizales) and curator of the Museum of Natural History and Science Bulletin editor of Museum Center.

INGRUMA`S HILL

The Ingruma`s Hill  is a big and natural mountain located in Riosucio Caldas, Colombia. A very well known place with an estimated elevation above the sea level of 2182 meters, a latitude of : 5°24'49.9" and a longitude: -75°43'8.9".

It is a touristic place where its visitors can enjoy of a particular flora and fauna. From the top can be seen the most wonderful landscapes of the whole city and other cities nearby.
