I have lived a very interesting experience in the special immersion to the pretty Island of San Andres. It was a wonderful opportunity of interaction. Thanks a lot to the people who have made this dream come true. Now with this blog I hope to share some important information with my friends and with my students because they are always a meaningful part of my life too.

SALAZARIA, AN ORIGINAL BUTTERFLY FROM RIOSUCIO
JULIAN ADOLFO SALAZAR ESCOBAR
Notable
lepidopterology precursor in Colombia, naturalist and Veterinarian, was born in
Riosucio, Caldas. He attended elementary and high school, in school José M.
Restrepo Maya and Institute Manizales, respectively. He graduated from the
University of Caldas in 1987, currently ahead graduate studies in Biology
Sciences. His field of expertise was the taxonomy, entomology, lepidopterology,
ecology, conservation of wilderness and of course Veterinary Medicine. He is an
outstanding figure of national entomology, committed to scientific cause, a
person who has given to the country many discoveries of new some typical
species, some of the Riosucio’s
municipality and unique in the world such as butterflies: Mesene ingrumaensis and Salazaria, valuable
contributions in addition to its more than 100 publications throughout his
life.
He develops wildlife
research, species monitoring, community development and environmental impact.
Since 1993 he has been linked to the University of Caldas (Manizales) and
curator of the Museum of Natural History and Science Bulletin editor of Museum
Center.
